CE MISSION STATEMENT
Association of Medical Laboratory Immunologists (AMLI)
The purpose of the Continuing Education Program of the Association of Medical Laboratory Immunologists is, broadly, to facilitate the exchange of information relating to clinical laboratory immunology. The annual international meeting seeks to bring together academic, research, and technical staff to generate information and education for the development and delivery of immunologic laboratory services.
The content of the Continuing Education effort includes:
- Providing education in basic immunology and updates as needed
- Discussing clinical interpretation of existing and newly developed tests
- Providing information on the development of new diagnostic tests
- Reviewing commercial product development, evaluation and use
- Providing educational experiences concerning the standardization of tests between/among laboratories
- Discussing quality control and quality improvement issues
- Discussing the technical aspects of performing new and existing tests
- Performing medical immunology laboratory services in a cost-effective manner
- Providing a forum for presentation of new technologies
- Measuring outcomes of pertinent immunologic issues.
The characteristics of the target audience include practitioners (M.D.s, Ph.D.s, technical, and industrial) in the specialties of immunology throughout the United States and other countries.
The educational activities and services provided now consist of the international Annual Meeting of 4 to 5 days of lectures and workshops. An update course has been held periodically, prior to the Annual Meeting to serve as a means of general review for the membership. Other educational services provided for the membership are a web page (www.amli.org) with a membership directory, and sessions and occasional co-sponsorship of CE programs with other Immunology Societies and Associations.
The expected outcome is:
- Develop and strengthen the state of the art practice of laboratory directors, researchers and technologists in Medical Laboratory Immunology.
- Provide a forum at the yearly meeting for discussion of new and emerging technologies in immunology.
- Encourage lifelong learning via evidence-based presentations on topics that are gaps in their knowledge.
